In Memoriam: Lloyd W. Clarke
Feb 14, 1964 -  Sep 20, 2007

CVCC member Lloyd Clarke was killed while riding his bike in Incline Village, NV, when an oncoming motorist made a left turn into his path. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Dr. Sherol Lorraine Clarke and daughter, Elta R. Clarke. He had previously been a professor at Georgia Tech and was employed as a software engineer.

The Clarke family regularly attended Wednesday night social rides, and Lloyd frequently attended other club rides.  He was also a regular on the morning rides from Port City Java in Hagerstown.  CVCC and all his cycling friends miss his ready laugh and quiet personality.  He is the first club member to die while doing what we love to do.  We hope he will be the last.

On September 20, 2008, CVCC placed a memorial bench along the Western Maryland Rail Trail at the Church Street parking lot in Hancock.

The teenage driver who was involved received a $250 fine and 64 hours of community service working in a bike shop.
